In the framework of the project "Strengthening the child's strengths for the prevention of violence" an international training was conducted with an emphasis on building a safe and peaceful learning environment through the implementation of restorative practices in school.
Applying restorative practices deepens the bonds between classmates, increases the sense of belonging, reduces aggression, harassment and resentment, and at the same time develops emotional and social skills.
The method of the circular process and proactive circles can be applied in class or with a group of teachers, professionals and uses a more structured set of activities designed to build a sense of community, develop empathy, trust, communication skills and cooperation.
Rehabilitation approaches offer a new way of how people treat each other in the school community. They provide everyone, adults and young people, with a coherent framework in which to build, maintain or, when things go wrong, fix relationships.
The training is led by Dr. Belinda Hopkins, Director of Conflict Transformation. She pioneered the application of restorative principles in school settings in the UK in the late 1990s and created the first restorative skills course designed specifically for teachers.
Belinda is one of the most famous authors in the world in the field of approaches to rehabilitation in schools and social services. Her books Just Schools (JKP 2004), Just Care (JKP 2009) and The Restorative Classroom (Optimus 2011) are internationally recognized.
Belinda spent six years researching the experiences of those who apply restorative approaches in their schools. The results represent the first doctoral dissertation in this field, completed in 2006 at the University of Reading.
The event was held within the project "Strengthening the child's strength to prevent violence", implemented by the Institute for Social Activities and Practices in partnership with the Association for the Empowerment of Children and Families "Ave Copiii" (Moldova), Agency for Social Services Latvia), the First Children's Embassy in the World - Megjashi, (Macedonia), Federatia Organizatiilor Neguvernamentale pentru Copil, (Romania), Network of Children's Organizations of Serbia - MODS, (Serbia), Association for a Better World, (Slovenia) and Tirana Legal Relief Society (TLAS) (Albania) participates in international training Basic ideas and introduction to the process of circles and proactive circles Reconstruction study.
